Payam is an investment professional with over 12 years of experience in the pensions industry. He has worked with trustee boards, sponsors, pension consultants, and asset managers to design, structure, and implement pensions de-risking solutions for a wide range of defined benefit schemes up to £60 billion in size.

Throughout his career, he has worked collaboratively with trustees and sponsoring employers: first to understand their funding challenges, and then to design bespoke solutions, using Liability-Driven Investment (LDI) as well as asset-side focused strategies.

In addition, Payam has been involved with a broad range of projects including buy-in/buy-outs, yield-enhancement exercises, and scheme liquidity and collateral adequacy analyses.

Payam has worked directly with numerous trustee boards to deliver trustee teach-ins on a range of market-related and investment topics. His knowledge of how complex financial instruments are built and implemented – many of which he helped to design – enables him to communicate complicated concepts clearly.

His appreciation of the complex funding issues facing DB schemes, and in-depth knowledge of the investment solutions required, put him in a unique position to guide pension scheme trustees through the different challenges facing their schemes, and help them to assess the diverse range of solutions being brought to market.
