Find out first hand, what it’s like being a Business Development Director at PTL from Colin Musgreaves.
What do you do?
That depends who is asking – on the platform or on the train I tell people that I am a fighter pilot to impress them, but in reality my day job is to win new clients for PTL and maintain strong relationships with the key decision makers and movers and shakers within the industry.
But what does that really mean?
Back in the day we used to call it Sales, but the role has become more diverse, strategic and technical. I spend most of my week having meetings with potential clients, consultants and lawyers talking about how we can solve their issues, enhance their business and work alongside them in a strategically planned way. When not doing this you will find me on the phone or on a train somewhere.
What are the most interesting aspects of your role?
I travel to some great cities and meet some fantastic people who collectively look after billions of pounds of savings and investments. Pension Scheme Members trust and rely on us to look after their main income in retirement and it is a massive commitment. Sometimes we take this all for granted
Throw in the odd lunch and an annual golf day and what more could you want. One stop short of being a rock star, or fighter pilot, it is the next best thing.
What skills/qualifications do you need to work at PTL?
You have to be absolutely professional, focused, work hard and keep your promises. The more I do this, the luckier I seem to get.
What sets PTL apart from other firms of Professional Trustees?
We offer a wide range of services to meet our clients’ needs and have grown our business by adapting to new opportunities and requirements created by legislation and almost constant change in landscape. Without doubt we have the best team in the market, with a wide range of skill sets to cover all forms of Trustee and Governance services to help clients now and in the future.
We are absolutely committed to giving all of our clients the best possible service, exceed their expectations to help them meet their ambitions and objectives and make them happy and successful.
So let's rock and roll all night, and party every day ……..!
